Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 increased after a 25 percent decline the week prior in Japan.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the PS3 sold 18,068 units between Aug. 27 and Sept. 2, an increase from sales of 16,393 units one week ago.
Additionally, the one PS3 software title, Bladestorm, debuted in the No. 2 rank in weekly game sales with 58,996 copies sold.
Previous top-seller Everybody’s Golf 5 fell to No. 21 from a No. 17 rank the week prior.
Sales for the PS3 posted a 61 percent increase in the U.S. after a $100 price cut for the 60GB SKU. It introduced a $599 80GB SKU in Aug.
The PS3 has sold more than 1 million units in Japan to date.
