2K’s Bioshock for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 on Thurs. climbed to the top three sales at Amazon.com prior to next week’s official launch.
The action title held a sales rank of No. 3 by Thurs. afternoon, behind Nintendo Co.’s Pokemon Pearl and EA’s Madden NFL 08.
Bioshock on Tues. ranked in the top ten at Amazon.com’s Computer & Video Games division following the debut of a first level demo on the Xbox Live Marketplace on Mon.
The title allows players to genetically alter their body to don new powers that can be used against enemies.
Earlier this week, select Toys R Us brick and mortar locations sold the anticipated title ahead of its Aug. 21 first release date. Parent company Take-Two this week committed to next week’s official launch date.
Microsoft has sold 5.6 million Xbox 360 units in the U.S. to date. Earlier this month, it price cut all Xbox 360 models to spur year-end sales.
