Nintendo Co.’s Wii moved more than 65,000 units in the latest weekly sales data from Japan.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 65,582 units between June 18 and June 24. The figure is a marginal increase from sales of 65,521 units the week prior.
Additionally, the system ranked three titles in the top ten software sales for the week, including Wii Sports, The Fighting! Revolution, and Wii Play.
Overall Wii ranked seven titles in the top 50 software sales in the period.
Wii continues to outpace competing consoles from Sony Corp. and Microsoft Corp., holding the No. 2 position in overall hardware sales.
Nintendo this week announced that it will release WiiWare, a new software tool for independent developers to create downloadable game content.
