Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation stayed green this week as hardware movement increased in the latest Japan retail tally.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the PS3 sold 9,581 units between June 18 and June 24. The figure represents a marginal increase from 9,481 units the week prior.
PS3 sales held with three software titles in the top 50 for the week, including the new adventure title FolksSoul and last week’s top-seller Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Last week the PS3 ranked two titles in the top 50.
This week, the PS3 title Everybody’s Golf 5 ranked in the top 25 video game products at Amazon Japan. It drops to retail on July 31.
The PS3 is the No. 5 selling video game hardware in Japan, behind Nintendo Co.’s Wii and ahead of Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360.
In the U.S., the PS3 carried a large sales increase on Ebay, where it ranks as the third best-selling video game hardware.
