Sony Computer Entertainment America on Thurs. released new firmware update 3.50 for the PSP handheld that will add Remote Play connectivity with the Playstation 3.
Announced last week, the Remote Play feature will allow the PSP to access photos, videos, and music from the PS3’s hard drive via any Wi-Fi connection.
The feature requires that PS3 owners update their firmware to the current version, 1.80.
The latest PSP firmware also includes an RSS Channel Guide to index audio and video feeds. RSS feeds can be accessed via the XrossMediaBar.
Additionally, Sony has released new offerings to the Playstation Store, including Championship Sprint for $4.99, Ridge Racer 7 Add-on content, MLB 07 The Show tutorial videos, and new movie trailers.
Sony has sold more than 24 million PSP units worldwide. In addition, sales of the PS3 have reached 5.5 million worldwide to date.
