
Electronic Arts Inc. on Thurs. announced that it is in development on Need for Speed ProStreet, a new entry in the long-established racing franchise.
Developed by EA Black Box in Vancouver, B.C., the offering will be released Nintendo Co.’s Wii, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360, and Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3.
In addition, the game will be released to the Playstation 2, Nintendo DS, PSP, and PC.
Need for Speed ProStreet will allow players to compete in head-to-head street races. The game will feature new Autosculpt technology that will allow direct impact to a car’s performance and personal appearance from vehicle damage.
“Need for Speed ProStreet accelerates street racing culture by providing the ultimate stage for the pursuit of street racing supremacy,” said Executive Producer, Larry LaPierre.
“This is a game about building the ultimate performance-tuned battle machine, taking it to multi-disciplinary showdowns all over the world and pitting your skills and reputation against the very best street racers.”
The final game, to be released this fall, will include online play on select platforms.
EA previously released Need for Speed Carbon to consoles and handhelds.
