
Sega of America Inc. on Thurs. announced that Virtua Tennis 3 for Sony Corp.’s Playstation and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 has shipped to U.S. retail.
The latest installment of the sports franchise features Singles and Doubles matches, mini-games, 20 tennis superstars, and 1080p high-definition graphics.
Tennis pros in the game include Andy Roddick, Maria Sharapova, Roger Federer, and Venus Williams. The game is said to feature photo-realistic graphics and enhanced AI.
“Sega has taken the renowned depth of the Virtua Tennis series to an all new level in Virtua Tennis 3 by delivering true 1080p graphics with life-like details and seamless gameplay and court physics that can only be realized on next-gen systems,” said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, Sega of America, Inc. “With newly created multiplayer features, and expanded World Tour mode, Virtua Tennis 3 once again sets the standard by which all tennis games are judged.”
The Xbox 360 version includes online gameplay for Exhibition games or Tournaments in both Singles and Doubles matches.
The PS3 version utilizes motion-based control on the Sixaxis wireless controller.
A PSP version will be released on Mar. 26.
