Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 is in a sales slump following high demand for handhelds and consoles from rival companies.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 3,333 units between Feb. 5 and Feb. 11. It sold 3,379 units the week prior.
Nintendo Co.’s DS Lite and Sony Corp.’s PSP held the top two video game hardware sales positions, with the Wii and Playstation 3 holding third and fourth, respectively.
The Xbox 360 was unable to rank any software in the top 50 software sales.
The onslaught of momentum for DS, Wii, PSP, and PS3 have dealt a sales blow to the Xbox successor, which enjoyed a brief increase in sales during the holiday period.
Sales in the U.S. are robust, ahead of the PS3 and behind Wii for Feb. sales.
Microsoft this week announced that it will unify Xbox Live and a new Games for Windows – Live service to allow gamers to utilize the same personal data when playing online on either platform.
