Capcom says “Argh” for first Wii game title

Capcom on Fri. announced that it is in development on a new adventure game tentatively titled Project Treasure Island Z for Nintendo Co.’s Wii.

The puzzle adventure is the first exclusive title from Capcom for Wii. It is scheduled to be released this fall.

Players will take the role of a young pirate apprentice named Zack as he seeks legendary treasure. The game is said to feature inventive gameplay mechanics to allow players to move and open objects, transform items, and unlock new pathways.

In addition, the game will include various level themes, like jungle, ice, temple, and volcanic caves.

“Innovation has been the cornerstone of Capcom’s successful history,” said Charles Bellfield, vice president, marketing, Capcom Entertainment. “By introducing a whole new level of interactivity, this title reinforces our commitment to pushing the limits on how people view and play games.”

Wii is the top-selling video game console for the month of Feb. in the U.S. It is currently on track to ship 6 million units worldwide by the end of Mar.
