Nintendo Co. on Tues. announced that the upcoming Pokemon Battle Revolution will be the first game to include online play on Wii when it launches on June 25.
Pokemon Battle Revolution will include Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection play to battle other trainers online. In addition, it will link to the Nintendo DS handheld to allow players to import characters or use their handhelds as controllers.
Nintendo’s second quarter lineup will include various offerings for Wii, DS, and the Game Boy Advance. Upcoming Wii titles include Super Paper Mario, Mario Party 8, and Big Brain Academy. Third-party Wii titles include Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia Rival Swords, Eidos’ Bionicle Heroes, Midway’s Mortal Kombat: Armageddon and Namco Bandai’s Tamagotchi Party On.
DS titles include Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, on Apr. 22, the Nintendo DS browser on June 4, and Planet Puzzle League on June 4.
Nintendo has shipped 3.19 million Wii units and 35 million DS handhelds to date.
