
Target Corp. this Sunday will reportedly offer more units of Nintendo Co.’s Wii video game system to in-store customers.
The Wii was released to U.S. retail in Nov. and has been sold out in most locations after launch.
Deal lurkers at discount shopping site FatWallet have been told by Target employees in nationwide locations that Wii stock is being held for Sunday circular sales.
Target has held staggered stock of Wii since launch but receive a significant number of units for customers.
Target’s online division has sold Wii in bundle configurations only that include games and accessories at a higher margin.
Wii has been a homerun at worldwide retail, shipping 3.19 million units to date. In Jan., the motion-sensitive system outperformed Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 and Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3.
Nintendo expects to reach shipments of 6 million Wii units by fiscal Mar. 2007.
