Xbox 360 Console Includes 20GB Hard Drive

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 remain consistent in Japan after the release of Capcom’s Lost Planet: Extreme Condition.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 17,213 units from Dec. 18 to Dec. 24. By comparison, in the week prior it sold 17,168 units.

Healthier sales for the Xbox successor can be attributed to the new action offering Lost Planet, which recently received rave reviews from publisher Famitsu. In addition, the new RPG Blue Dragon recently boosted console sales in the territory. Microsoft currently retails an Xbox 360 bundled with the game title at a modest price to attract Japan consumers to the console.

Lost Planet entered the charts this week at No. 28 and is the only Xbox 360 in the top 50 software sales in the same period.

The game title includes a story mode an online multiplayer for up to 16 players. Capcom recently announced final modifications to the game on account of player feedback on beta test trials.

A multiplayer online demo is currently available for download at no cost on Xbox Live Marketplace.

Microsoft expects to sell more than 10 million Xbox 360s worldwide by year-end.
