Wii component cables limited to one per household

Nintendo Co.’s U.S. online store will limit component cables for Wii to one per household, it disclaimed this week.

The Shop Nintendo store said that it has resumed all backordered shipments for the in-demand peripheral, which allows Wii owners to view their games in 480p resolution.

In addition, it will limit sales of the cable to one per household, likely due to the product’s high resale value on auction site Ebay.

Weeks prior the Wii component cable sold for more than $150 on the auction site due to unavailability in stores.

Nintendo says that retail stores including Best Buy, Circuit City, EB Games, and GameStop will carry the item beginning in mid-Dec.

Nintendo has sold 600,000 Wii units to date. It expects to ship 4 million units to retail by year-end.
