Nintendo on Wed. announced that it will rock 33 new Wii games by year-end and downloadable access to 30 Virtual Console classics.
Wii will drop to U.S. retail on Nov. 19 for $249.99.
The latest video game system from Nintendo will employ a motion-sensing remote controller to allow players to swing the controller like tennis racquet in sports games or like a sword in action games.
Launch titles include Excite Truck where users turn the remote like steering wheel, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess where users can wield the Wii Remote like a sword.
“The most important advance for video games in the last 10 years was the introduction of Super Mario 64, which ushered in the era of true 3-D gaming,” says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “Wii will have the same effect on how players connect to their games, and it is made for everyone. Simply said, games have never felt like this before.”
Third-party launch titles include Activision’s Call of Duty 3, EA’s Madden NFL 07, and Ubisoft’s Red Steel.
Nintendo expects to ship 4 million Wii units worldwide by the end of 2006.
