Sony Computer Entertainment America on Tuesday announced that it will drop the PSP Entertainment Pack to retail on Sept. 13.
The Entertainment Pack will include the PSP system, Lords of Dogtown UMD movie, and 1GB Memory Stick Pro for $249.99.
“The PSP system’s success stems from its ability to combine console-quality gaming with multimedia applications, and this new package showcases all of the system’s strengths,” said Peter Dille, senior vice president, marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America.
“Whether consumers want to pick up and play one of our top racing franchises, watch a movie, or enjoy their own music, photos, downloadable content and more, the PSP Entertainment Pack delivers it all in one convenient package.”
PSP sales momentum has slowed after intial demand on higher cost and strong competition from Nintendo’s Nintendo DS hardware.
The Nintendo DS Lite consistently outsells the PSP in Japan in week-to-week sales and recently topped U.S. sales charts in Aug.
Sony’s new value model should spark increased sales during the holiday season. The company also offers a $199 PSP SKU without extras.
