Xbox 360 sales increase 20% in Japan

Sales for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 increased 20% in Japan in new retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 3,002 units between Mar. 22 and Mar. 28 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 2,419 units the week prior.

Koei Corp.'s Fist of the North Star Xbox 360 SKU moved 30,306 copies to rank No. 7 in overall game sales for the week.

Microsoft in Mar. released the Xbox 360 Elite Final Fantasy XIII bundle.

The Xbox 360 Elite Final Fantasy XIII bundle will include a Xbox 360 250GB Elite hardware, two wireless controllers, AV cable, headset, network cable and a copy of Final Fantasy XIII at $399.99.

In addition, it released the new Xbox 360 Elite Spring 2010 Bundle.

The SKU includes the Xbox 360 120GB Elite hardware, Forza Motorsport 3 and Halo 3: ODST at $299.99.

Microsoft in Feb. reported a decline in the division that includes the Xbox 360 business.

The Entertainment and Devices division, which includes the Xbox 360 business, declined 12 percent to $2.9 billion in the second quarter.

The company shipped 5.2 million units in the quarter, down 13 percent from six million units one year prior.
