Japan may have 7-Elevens but the consumers aren't experiencing brain freeze. Japan sales chart data from Dengeki Online and Media Create put Nintendo DS's Brain Training for Adults at the number one sales spot, selling 30,000 copies. The quiz game has quickly sold 101,000 copies since it debuted three weeks earlier.

Brain Training for Adults is based on a book that is designed to invigorate adult brains with a series of questions answered by touch screen or voice.

Another Nintendo DS game to reach the top five is Bandai's SD Gundam G Generation, selling 13,000 copies, for a cumulative total of 66,000.

Nintendo's puppy simmulator Nintendogs clawed its way back to the top ten at the number seven spot on Media Create charts, and number eight on the Dengeki charts. The franchise has sold over 400,000 copies in Japan.

Bandai's new PSP game, Gagharv Trilogy: A Drop of Scarlet, dropped it at number four on the Media Create charts and number seven on the Dengeki charts. The next PSP game on the charts, Derby Time, clocks in at number 30.

Nintendo has gained on rival Sony in the handheld market following the release of Nintendogs on the Nintendo DS. The DS has outsold the PSP in the past four weeks ending May 29th, with sparked sales from Nintendogs and continued sales from 'Brain Training'.

The Nintendo DS launched last November and has since sold 5.27 million units worldwide. Sony's rival PSP handheld has sold 2.97 million units worldwide.
