Rob Dyer, Senior VP of Publisher Relations for Sony's U.S. game division, told consumer website Industry Gamers that publishers have said they will not spend their resources on Wii.
"You know what, third-party product just doesn't sell on that platform," Dyer said.
"So now they're [publishers] taking those resources, coming back to us and saying, 'Sony we're going to be able to provide you with that exclusive content,' or 'We're going to put more engineers on it and figure out to maximize the Blu-ray and get more out of PS3.' That's what we're seeing now."
The PS3 has held strong retail sales post price cut and hardware remodel.
In the third quarter, Sony sold 6.5 million PS3 units, up from 4.5 million units one year prior.
PS3 software sales increased to 47.6 million units, up from 40.8 million.
The PS3 has sold 33.5 million units to date worldwide.
However, Wii continues to dominate at retail, moving 3.83 million units at Dec. U.S. retail.
Lifetime U.S. sales for Wii have topped 27.2 million units. More than 50 million units have been sold worldwide.
