Meanwhile, retailer Amazon.com this week began offering a new 'Buy 2 Get 1 Free' promotion for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 Platinum Hits titles.
In addition, it discounted the Xbox Live 12-Month Gold Card to $39.96, down from $49.99.
The retailer concurrently price cut the Xbox 360 Wireless N Network Adapter to $82.96, 17 percent off the $99.99 MSRP.
Microsoft sold a total of 1.31 million Xbox 360 units in Dec. U.S. figures to rank fourth in overall hardware movement.
The Xbox 360 has sold 39 million units to date in global markets.
