Sales for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 this week doubled in Japan in new retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 10,646 units between Dec. 7 and Dec. 13 to rank No. 7 in overall hardware sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 5,341 units the week prior.

Microsoft in Oct. released a new Xbox 360 Elite bundle to Japan.

Microsoft this month released the new Xbox 360 250GB Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition SKU to be released on Nov. 10.

In Sept. it began sale of a new Xbox 360 Elite 2009 Holiday Bundle with two game titles at $299.99.
