Nintendo serves 1.5M Wii, DS units Thanksgiving Week

Nintendo Co. this week said it sold more than 1.5 million Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo DSi hardware units combined during Thanksgiving week.
Based on internal figures, the Redmond, WA-based company sold more than 550,000 Wii consoles and more than 1 million Nintendo DS handhelds between Nov. 22 and Nov. 28, 2009. Nintendo this month said that the Wii console and Nintendo DS handheld have topped U.S. hardware sales for the month of Oct. In data from NPD Group Inc., Wii sold 507,000 units in Oct. to rank as the top hardware to bring lifetime U.S. sales to 22 million. The Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DS Lite sold 457,000 units combined to rank second in overall hardware sales in Oct. Nintendo ranked four titles in Oct. top 10 sales, including Wii Fit Plus at No. 5, Wii Fit Plus with Wii Balance Board at No. 6, Wii Sports Resort w/ 2 Wii MotionPlus Bundle at No. 8.
