Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will sell a new Blu-ray disc player at $78 on Black Friday, the annual shopping day after Thanksgiving.

On Nov. 27, the retailer will sell the Magnavox NB500MG1F Blu-ray disc player at $78. The price point is a new low for a stand-alone player, which typically retail between $100 and $200.

Amazon this month is holding a new high-definition promotion that discounts 46 Blu-ray titles to less than $10.

Amazon is concurrently holding a sale that discounts new Blu-ray disc releases to under $20 in a new high-definition promotion.

Sony this month began sale of the PS3 250GB model, which includes a 250GB hard drive and built-in Blu-ray disc functionality at $349.99.
