Upon receipt, Netflix members will be able to stream TV and movie content on-demand to their PS3 console.
Watching movies streamed by Netflix will be enabled initially by a Blu-ray disc that utilizes Blu-ray's BD-Live technology to access the Internet and activate the Netflix user interface on the PS3.
The PS3 has sold nearly nine million units in the U.S. Netflix in Sept. reported a base of 11 million U.S. subscribers.
Sony in Sept. began sale of the PS3 Slim, a new version of the hardware with built-in Blu-ray disc functionality at $299.99.
Microsoft Corp. in 2008 began offering Netflix content streaming on the Xbox 360 to Xbox Live members.
