Fans of Sony Corp.'s Playstation this week began rejecting the launch price of the company's new PSP go handheld on the company's official Playstation Blog.

In a post called "It's GO Time: PSP go Available Oct. 1", registered members were vocal in their opposition to the handheld's launch price of $249.99.

In the more than 40 comments related to the post, most were against the handheld's price point.

"Soon as you guys make it $199 I will buy it. Right now its over priced," wrote one fan.

Another noted the $50 price difference between the handheld and the new Playstation 3 Slim.

"Hmmmm I can either get a PSP go for $249 or I can spend another $50 and just get a PS3 Slim, no contest, I'm getting a slim."

A few fans were more dramatic.

"PSP go will fail. Overpriced games, for an overpriced piece of technology from 2005," wrote one member.

The PSP go will be sold this Thurs. in conjunction with a TV, print and digital advertising campaign.

The handheld is an attempt to transition to all digital content rather than the previous model's physical UMD format, which has been shunned by non-game content providers.
