Retailer Amazon.com this week price cut Sony Corp.'s Red and Blue Dualshock 3 controllers for the Playstation 3 to under $43 in a new accessories sale.

This week, the Dualshock 3 Red SKU held a sale price of $42.99 and the Dualshock 3 Blue SKU held a sale price of $42.99.

Meanwhile, the standard black Dualshock 3 held a discount price of $42.99.

Each Dualshock 3 carries an MSRP of $54.99.

This month, Sony said that the PS3 held a 300 percent increase in sales at top U.S. retailers following a price cut to $299.

Sony in Aug. began sale of the new PS3 Slim model, a smaller and lighter version of the hardware.

The PS3 Slim includes a 120GB hard drive and a built-in Blu-ray disc player for $299.99.
