Amazon offers bonus items with $299 Xbox 360 Elite, $249 Pro

Retailer Amazon.com on Fri. price cut Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 Elite to under $300 and Xbox 360 Pro to under $250 and is offering bonus items to kick off a new price cut initiative effective Aug. 28.

On Fri., the Xbox 360 Elite held a new price of $299.99, $100 off the prior $399.99 MSRP.

The Xbox 360 Elite includes a black finish, 120GB hard drive, HDMI input, wireless controller wireless headset, and 1-month Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Amazon is offering a free bonus Xbox Live 12-Month + 1-Month Gold Card Free with purchase of the Elite SKU.

Additionally, the Xbox 360 Pro was price cut to $249.99, down from $299.99.

The Pro SKU includes a 60GB hard drive and a wireless controller.

It is concurrently offering a free game with the purchase of the Pro SKU. Eligible titles include Halo 3, Fable II, and Halo Wars.

It is also offering a free game with the $199 Xbox 360 Arcade.

Finally, it is holding a 'Buy 2 Xbox 360 Platinum Hits, Get 1 Free' promotion.

Sony this month price cut the current 80GB SKU to $299.99, while the 160GB SKU was price cut to $399.99.

This month it announced a new PS3 Slim model, a smaller and lighter version of the hardware.

It will be sold on Sept. 1 at $299.99.
