Retailer Amazon.com this month disclaimed that Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 Slim will ship this week.

The PS3 Slim product page displays a ship date of Aug. 25, one week prior to the official Sept. 1 launch date.

Sony last week announced the new PS3 Slim model, a smaller and lighter version of the hardware.

The PS3 Slim will include a 120GB hard drive and built-in Blu-ray disc functionality.

It will sell at $299.99.
