Retailer Amazon.com this week began offering new On Demand video functionality to select Panasonic Viera HDTVs and Blu-ray players.

The Amazon Video On Demand functionality allows users purchase movies and TV shows from their Panasonic HDTV or Blu-ray player and watch them instantly in high-definition.

Amazon Video On Demand viewing includes DVR-like functions, including rewind, fast-forward, and pause capabilities.

Amazon currently offers three HDTV models and three Blu-ray player models that include On Demand services.

Amazon in July began offering free Blu-ray player and HDMI cable with the purchase of a select HDTV by Samsung Group.

It is concurrently holding a new Blu-ray box set sale.
