Retailer Amazon.com on Mon. discounted The Ultimate Matrix Collection Blu-ray disc SKU to under $58 in a one-day sale.

In the Gold Box promotion, The Ultimate Matrix Collection Blu-ray disc held a sale price of $57.99, 55 percent off the $129.95 list price.

The SKU includes all three 'The Matrix' films in high-definition and The Animatrix in 1080p.

Additionally, Amazon is offering a new $9.99 and up Blu-ray disc sale.

It is concurrently holding a 53 percent off Blu-ray disc promotion.

NPD Group Inc. in June said that Blu-ray player sales have increased 72 percent in the first quarter of 2009 compared to the same period the year prior.
