Retailer Amazon.com this week began taking pre-orders for Halo 3: ODST for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360.

Halo 3: ODST is a stand-alone expansion with all-new campaign content and all-new multiplayer maps.

The campaign mode, which will take place prior to the events of Halo 3, is said to provide the brand-new perspective of a special forces ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper).

Multiplayer functionality includes expanded Forge options and four-player co-op.

The title carries a pre-order price of $59.99

Microsoft in May said that Xbox 360 sales have topped 30 million worldwide.

Additionally, the Xbox Live online network now holds more than 20 million members globally.
