Best Buy sells discounted Xbox 360, HDTV bundles

Best Buy Co. Inc. this week began selling new discounted bundles that include a Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 and HDTV sets by LG Electronics Inc.

A discounted bundle sold this week includes an LG 42" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV, Xbox 360 Pro Holiday Bundle, and standard home theater setup for $1299.97 after $800 in instant savings.

Another bundle includes an LG 32" Class 1080p LCD HDTV, Xbox 360 Pro Holiday Bundle and standard home theater setup for $849.97 after $650 in instant savings.

Meanwhile, Amazon.com this week price cut the Xbox Live 12-Month + 1 Gold Subscription Card held a sale price of $29.97 on Sun., down from an MSRP of $49.99.

It also price cut the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller to $34.99 in a new accessories sale.

NPD Group Inc. this week reported strong sales of Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 in Dec. U.S. sales.

The Xbox 360 sold 1.44 million units in Dec. to rank behind Nintendo Co.'s Wii at 2.15 million units in the same period.

The 360 outsold Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 two-to-one in Dec.

Microsoft in Sept. price cut all Xbox 360 hardware between $50 and $80 in a preemptive holiday strike.

The Arcade SKU now sells for $199, the Pro at $299 and the Elite at $399.

Microsoft in Jan. said that Xbox 360 sales have reached 28 million units worldwide.

Also, the Xbox Live online service now holds 17 million members globally.
