A Sony Corp. representative this month said that the title Killzone 2 for the Playstation 3 will feature more than 100 death animations in the final game.
At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV, the representative said that death animations will vary depending on where the enemy is shot. Kills demonstrated in the Nov. beta and at CES include instant-drop kills from headshots to more relishing back shots that cause the soldier to writhe a bit before the sweet release of death. Killzone 2 is the first-person sequel to the Playstation 2 release, Killzone. It is scheduled to be released on Feb. 27. Retailer Amazon.com is currently offering a five percent discount and a Killzone Home costume on pre-orders for the title at $56.99. Sony in Nov. began an online multiplayer beta that has received positive feedback from press and game fans. Retailers have began offering aggressive price cuts to high-definition products to spur adoption. Best Buy Co. Inc. stores in Dec. began offering a discounted PS3, HDTV bundle to customers. The retailer is currently holding a new accessories sale for the PS3. Finally, it is offering a free Blu-ray disc player by Sharp Corp. with the purchase of a select Sharp Aquos HDTV. Sony in Nov. released the 160GB PS3 SKU. The bundle includes a new 160GB PS3, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, PAIN downloadable game voucher, and a Dualshock 3 controller for $499.
