Amazon joins Wal-Mart in large Wii restock

Retailer Amazon.com on Mon. restocked Nintendo Co.'s Wii video game hardware following an announcement from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. that it would offer a new supply of units to online customers.
On Mon. afternoon, Amazon held an in-stock status for Wii. Each hardware units sells for $249.99. Wal-Mart on Mon. said that it would offer tens of thousands of Wii units at Walmart.com for online shoppers. Additionally, it is offering a '2 for $30' Wii game deal and accessories starting under $10. Wii, which includes a motion-sensitive controller, has held a sold out status for two consecutive years as the video game hardware appeals to mass market buyers. Amazon in Dec. price cut select Wii titles under $20, including Cooking Mama Cook Off at $14.99 and Trauma Center: New Blood at $19.99. NPD Group Inc. in Nov. said that Wii sold 803,210 units to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the month in the U.S.
