Sony Corp.'s U.S. game division on Mon. said that the first few days of the server environment for the new release SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs: Confrontation were rocky and that the company will release a new patch to resolve other game errors.
Seth Luisi, Director of Development at Sony's U.S. game division said that the SOCOM server environment is not holding up at peak hours. The title currently yields 25,000 users at peak times and holds a consistent 100,000 log-ins per day. Luisi says the company is looking into the issues to resolve them as quickly as possible. Additionally, Sony is working on a new patch to resolve stability issues, including getting booted to the XMB interface and game disconnects. The patch should be available within one week. Punch Jump reported last week that SOCOM game and server issues included game disconnects, room disconnects, Corrupt File errors, and 'Operation Could Not Be Completed' error messages. The SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs: Confrontation bundle, which includes a new PS3 Bluetooth Headset, was released last week to U.S. retailers. It carries an MSRP of $59.99. The latest entry is an online-only multiplayer title that supports up to 32 players simultaneously. The PS3 Bluetooth Headset will be sold separately this week for $49.99. Sony will sell a new 160GB PS3 bundle in Nov. next to the current 80GB SKU. Announced in Aug., the limited edition bundle will include the title Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, a Playstation Network voucher for Pain, and a Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller for $499.99.
