Circuit City Stores Inc. stores this month discounted select titles for Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 to below $17 in the latest round of video game discounts.

At Circuitcity.com, the retailer price cut select PS3 titles to $16.96, including NBA 08, Sega Superstars Tennis, NCAA Football 08, Beowulf, NCAA March Madness, NFL Tour, and The Golden Compass.

PS3 budget titles typically sell for $29.99.

NPD Group Inc. this week reported that Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 in U.S. Aug. sales.

Sony in Aug. released the new 80GB PS3 to the U.S. at an aggressive $399.99, the price of its previous 40GB model.

The product includes a built-in Blu-ray disc drive for high-def movies and a new Dualshock 3 controller with rumble functionality.

It will sell a new Wireless Keypad in Nov. and a new Bluetooth headset in Oct.
