Amazon.com this week discounted select Blu-ray titles to as low as $14 in a bid to spur high-definition disc sales.

Titles at $14 include Blade Runner at $14.95, 300 at $14.95, 3:10 to Yuma at $14.95, I Am Legend at $13.95, Total Recall at $13.95, Rambo: First Blood at $13.95, and Blood Diamond at $14.95.

Additionally, Amazon this month began selling the Samsung BD-P1400 Blu-ray disc player at $298.00, a price cut from a list price of $399.99.

Also, it is offering 45 percent off exclusive Blu-ray disc title bundles.

Amazon's sharp Blu-ray discounts follow Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s aggressive discounts for Blu-ray products.

Wal-Mart this week began offering a free $100 gift card to customers who purchase a new Blu-ray disc player.

The promotion is valid for all players sold at the retailer in-store and online, including Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3.

Additionally, Wal-Mart is offering Blu-ray titles starting at $14.

The Blu-ray format declared victory over Toshiba Corp.'s HD DVD format in Feb.

NPD Group Inc. in May said that Blu-ray disc player sales fell 40 percent in Feb. from Jan. Sales rebounded three percent in Mar.

In addition to Wal-Mart, retailers including Target Corp., Circuit City Stores Inc. and Netflix Inc. back the Blu-ray format.
