Konami to jam Rock Revolution to PS3, Xbox 360, Wii

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. on Thurs. said it will release the music title Rock Revolution to Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 and Nintendo Co.'s Wii this fall.

The title will offer a realistic drum kit peripheral on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Lead and bass guitar play will also be available for the product.

"Rock Revolution will be the most innovative and realistic rock game to hit the market, that will provide a quality drum peripheral and music that players will appreciate," said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.

"As the originator of music-based games, we are dedicated to bringing fans a truly preeminent music experience. With Rock Revolution, we put the emphasis on the drum kit, delivering an experience unlike any other."

The Wii version can utilize the Wii Remote for air-drum and air-guitar play.

Additionally, a version will be produced for the Nintendo DS handheld that will utilize the DS stylus.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 will offer downloadable tracks to expand the music offerings.

The final game will have both single and multiplayer modes.

Konami pioneered music-based video game titles with products including DanceDanceRevolution, Beatmania and Guitar Freaks.

Recent hit music titles include Activision Inc.'s Guitar Hero III, and EA's Rock Band.
