Wii outsold by PSP in latest Japan charts

Nintendo Co.'s Wii home video game system was outsold by Sony Corp.'s PSP handheld in the latest weekly hardware battle in Japan.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 55,845 units between Mar. 10 and Mar. 16. By comparison, the PSP sold 57,651 units in the same period. Despite a knock back from last week's No. 1 hardware rank, Wii charted four titles in the top ten software sales, including Wii Fit at No. 3, Super Smash Bros. Brawlat No. 4, Wii Sports at No. 8, and Wii Play at No. 10. The PSP did not chart any software titles in the top ten in the same period. Wii this month ranked as the No. 2 video game system in Feb. U.S. sales, moving 432,000 units in the month. Nintendo this week said that Super Smash Bros. Brawl sold 1.4 million copies in one week of availability in the U.S. The title debuted on Mar. 9. Additionally, it will release the game title Mario Kart Wii to the Wii on Apr. 27 in the U.S.
