Metal Gear Solid 4 sales up on PS3 bundle news

Sales for Konami Corp.'s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots increased on Wed. following news that Sony Corp. will release a bundle SKU that includes the latest entry in the series.
Advanced orders for the title held an increase of 388 percent on Amazon.com to rank as the No. 68 product in the Video Games division. Sony on Tues. said that it will release a new Metal Gear SKU in late Q2 to include a 80GB PS3, DualShock 3 controller, and Metal Gear Solid 4 for $499.99. Additionally, it said that the DualShock 3 controller will be sold in the U.S. this Apr. for $54.95. Sony held increased PS3 sales during the month of Jan. in the U.S., moving 269,000 units to outsell Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 according to NPD Group Inc. A pre-sale program will allow customers to enter a beta test for Metal Gear Online scheduled for Apr. Konami in Oct. 2007 delayed Metal Gear Solid 4, citing the need to make further improvements to the quality of the game.
