Amazon offers $13.95 Blu-ray titles

Amazon.com this month began offering $13.95 Blu-ray titles in the latest bid to spur high-definition content sales.

Titles selling at $13.95 include Stargate (Extended Cut), Total Recall, Alaska: Spirit of the Wild (IMAX), and Africa: The Serengeti (IMAX).

Retailers including Amazon, Best Buy and Circuit City are offering new sales to promote Blu-ray and HD DVD formats.

Amazon this week is offering Blu-ray disc titles as low as $14.99 and up to 53 percent off select Blu-ray disc titles.

In addition, it slashed 50 percent off more than 100 HD DVD titles.

Best Buy this week is selling select Blu-ray disc titles for $14.99.

Circuit City on Sun. began offering a Toshiba Satellite laptop with a built-in HD DVD drive, a free Bourne Ultimatum on HD DVD format, and a wireless router for $799.98 after rebates.

Toshiba this month price cut all stand alone HD DVD Players following an announcement from Warner Bros. that it will produce high-definition content exclusively on Blu-ray.
