Sales for Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 outsold Nintendo Co.'s Wii for a second straight week in Japan retail sales. The PS3 ranked No. 3 in overall hardware sales.

Sony this week announced a new Playstation Store for PC that allows PSP owners to download new content without the PS3 hardware. The store offers free demos and premium content online.

Sales for Sony Corp.'s Sixaxis controller ranked No. 1 following a Black Friday discount at Amazon.com The controller was discounted to $19.99 from $49.99.

Sony this week held a Thanksgiving sale to discount select titles at the Playstation Store. Titles included Calling All Cars, Everyday Shooter, and flOw.

Sony this week deployed firmware 2.01 to the PS3 hardware. The new firmware is said to improve stability and update the Remote Start feature.

Sony this week released the new action title Uncharted: Drake's Fortune to the PS3. The title features more than 100 minutes of in-game cinematics and a proprietary engine.

Sony this week price cut the development kit for the PS3. Sony's game division said the new price for a development kit in North America is $10,250.
