Week recap: PS3 Future; Xbox 360 Bioshock; Wii delay

Sony Corp. last week invited Punch Jump to test the latest build of Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction for the Playstation 3.

Additionally, the company previewed SOCOM: Tactical Strike for the PSP handheld.

Sony this week released new offerings to the Playstation Store, including demos for DiRT and NCAA Football 08. Additional content released included new videos and movie trailers.

2K Games this week said that it will release a new title called Borderlands to the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The sci-fi shooter is scheduled to be released in 2008.

D3Publisher this week announced a partnership with Illusion Softworks to distribute a new title for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. The title is scheduled for a 2008 release.

Amazon.com this week began offering a $599 Xbox 360 high-def bundle to consumers. The SKU includes an Xbox 360 Elite, HD DVD peripheral, and seven HD DVD titles.

2K Games' Bioshock reached the top ten best-selling products at Amazon this week following a demo debut on Mon. The first-person action title is set for release on Aug. 21.

The Xbox 360 fell out of top 20 sales at Amazon.com this week. The Premium SKU reached the No. 1 sales rank following a price cut which took effect the week prior.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company this week said that Microsoft will employ new 90nm embedded DRAM in the Xbox 360. The new subsystem consumes less power and saves board space.

Microsoft this week released Hexic 2 and Ecco the Dolphin to the Xbox Live Arcade division. Hexic 2 offers a head-to-head battle mode and Ecco the Dolphin features enhanced graphics and sound.

Namco Bandai this week rolled the Beautiful Katamari demo to the Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo provides a sneak peek of the final version due out this fall.

The DigiTimes this week reported that Nintendo will delay a production increase for the Wii home video game console due to tight component supply. The expanded production had been scheduled for June 2007.
