Nintendo Co. on Wed. said that EA's upcoming Medal of Honor Airborne for the Wii home video game system will include multiplayer support for up to 32 players on the console.

The inclusion of online multiplayer marks the end of zero mass multiplayer titles for the console since it debuted in Nov. 2006.

Most recently, Nintendo incorporated online functionality for the online battle game Pokemon Battle Revolution.

In addition to Medal of Honor, Mario Kart Wii will feature online multiplayer functionality. The title, revealed today at the E3 Media & Business Summit, will be sold with the Wii Wheel in early 2008.

Nintendo has held online presence through a series of channels available on Wii, including the News Channel, Weather Channel, and Wii Shop Channel.

The company has shipped 5.84 million Wii units worldwide to date. It expects to ship 14 million units this business year.
