Sony Style stores in the U.S. have begun offering customers a $50 gift card to the store with the purchase of a new Playstation 3 console and two game titles.

In-store customers must purchase a new PS3 console and game titles equal to $59.99 each to be eligible for the free gift card.

The promotion is not available online.

The offer is the latest promotion to drive sales of the PS3, which have been lower-than-expected at U.S. retail.

In the month of May, PS3 sales fell flat at 82,000 units, unchanged from the month prior.

Amazon.com this week discounted the PS3 Sixaxis wireless controller by 20 percent to increase sales.

Additionally, Best Buy this month began offering in-store customers $2,000 PS3 gaming packages that included an HDTV and Blu-ray movies to spur retail movement.

Sony has sold 1.3 million PS3 units to date in the U.S. It expects to ship 11 million this business year.
