Wii up, Xbox 360 down, PS3 flat in Amazon sales

Sales for Nintendo Co.'s Wii increased, while competing console sales decreased or stayed flat in the latest retail data from Amazon.com's Computer & Video Games.

Wii ranked at the No. 4 position, up from No. 5 a week prior. Additonally, Wii ranked the most products in the top ten, including Mario Party 8 at No. 1, Wii Play at No. 2, and the Wii Remote Controller at No. 5.

Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 ranked at No. 24 this week, down a No. 19 rank one week ago. The Xbox 360 Elite, introduced in Apr., fell one position to No. 206. It carries limited availability at Amazon.com.

Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 sales stayed flat at No. 27, unchanged from the week prior. The top-selling game for the platform is Resistance: Fall of Man, which ranks at No. 48.

Wii this week was advertised as a hot Father's Day item in the latest round of Sunday circulars. The console has held mass appeal in the U.S., selling 2.5 million units to date.

Wii is the No. 1-selling home console in the U.S. based on the latest market data from NPD Group. The Xbox 360 ranked as the No. 2 home console and the PS3 ranked third in Apr. sales.
