Retailer Circuit City has sold out of Microsoft Corp.'s upcoming Xbox 360 Elite after offering the high-end model for sale earlier this month via its consumer website.
The Xbox 360 Elite will launch at U.S. retail on Apr. 29 and include HDMI, a 120GB hard drive, and a piano-black finish for $479.99. Circuitcity.com is currently not allowing any additional pre-orders for the console and has replaced the order button with a 'coming soon' tag. The Elite will replace the Premium system model as the top offering in the Xbox 360 product line. Microsoft will continue to sell the Core and Premium products along side the Elite. The latest Xbox 360 model will help Microsoft compete against Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3, which includes HDMI and a 60GB hard drive in its high-end model. Sony recently discontinued its 20GB model and may option an 80GB SKU in the near future. Microsoft expects to ship 12 million Xbox 360 units by fiscal June 2007.
