Wii owners worlwide prefer dogs over cats according to the latest polling data from the Everybody Votes Channel.

The first worldwide poll for Nintendo Co.'s Wii generated an overwhelming response for one pet over the other, with dogs capturing 63.7 percent of votes compared to 36.3 percent for cats.

The Everybody Votes Channel is the latest Wii division and allows owners to vote on various topics. Previous questions include whether chocolate or roses are more romantic for Valentine's Day and which century voters prefer to live in.

Nintendo has gained sales momentum by catering to the masses and offering several non-gaming channels, including the Forecast Channel, News Channel, and Internet Channel. In addition, most Wii titles are motion-sensitive to allow less experienced players to try their hand at gaming.

Nintendo has shipped 3.19 million Wii units to date. It expects to ship 6 million by fiscal Mar. 2007.
