Midway Games Inc. on Tues. announced that Happy Feet, the video game based on the Warner Bros. Picture feature film, has shipped to U.S. retail.
The current-generation and handheld versions for Playstation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance have dropped to retail. The Nintendo Wii version is scheduled to ship later this week.
The video game version follows Mumble, a tap-dancing penguin who struggles to find a soul mate.
"Happy Feet is such a wonderful film and expected to be a huge hit. We're ecstatic to have created a game to complement the movie that will be fun for kids and parents of any age to play together," said Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway. "Happy Feet the videogame will allow fans of the movie to dance, swim and belly–sled, just like Mumble, Gloria and the rest of the penguins from the movie, and we're providing an extensive marketing campaign to support the games' release."
The release will include a multi-million dollar marketing campaign, including TV adverts on multiple networks, Burger King Kid's Meal promotion and retail 'gift with purchase' programs.
