Early scans of a promotional retail catalog reveal that Toys R Us will offer pre-orders for Sony's Playstation 3 and Nintendo's Wii on Oct. 29.

Toys R Us' Big Book, a catalog that features hot new toys and coupon specials, will promote the two new video game systems to consumers in this Sunday's circular ads.

Sony will release the PS3 for $499 and $599 with extras. The Blu-ray disc-equipped machine will be released in lower-than-expected quantities on Nov. 17.

Nintendo will drop Wii to retail for $249.99. The item ranked this year in Toys R Us' hot toy list for the holiday season. It will be released on Nov. 19.

Toys R Us will join GameStop Corp. as retail chains that will offer pre-orders for the new in-demand video game systems. Recent pre-orders for PS3 and Wii sold out at GameStop and EB Games stores within minutes after opening.

In 2005, Toys R Us offered pre-order bundles for Microsoft's Xbox 360.

Retailers like Best Buy, Target, and Wal-Mart have traditionally offered new video game consoles on a first-come first-serve basis.
