Nintendo on Thursday announced that it will rock new Nintendo DS Lite colors to retail starting Sept. 13.

The company will introduce Onyx and Coral Pink to retail to join the current option, Polar White.

"Not only are the DS Lite screen and battery life incredible," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "But the new colors just add another element of fun, allowing people to 'personalize' who they are by the color, or colors they pick."

The Nintendo DS is the best-selling current handheld on the market at 21M units sold worldwide. It competes against Sony's PSP handheld entertainment system.

The DS's casual game offerings have allowed its customer base to grow to baby boomers and seniors. Nintendo will employ similar strategy to the upcoming Wii console to offer consumers low barrier to entry on many games.

The Nintendo DS Lite retails for $129.99.
